Why Patch
Everyone else sells
you the tools.
Acrobat, Smallpdf and iLovePDF are all good at what they do, and two of the three are cheaper than Patch. What none of them do is the work. You still open the file, find the tool, make the change and hope nothing else moved.

And that is the easy document.
An editor's text tool needs a PDF with editable text in it. Anything laid out in a design tool and exported with the type as outlines has none, and there the tool cannot change the date at all.

What Patch does
Removes the original text from the content stream

Limited beta Born-digital PDF text, one bounded region at a time, in two typography classes. Outlined type, scans, and encrypted, signed or XFA files are refused rather than approximated. The engine is built and independently attested; it is not deployed yet, and we will say so here until it is.
At one place the two are about even, and we would not pretend otherwise. Ten is where it stops being a task. Forty is most of an afternoon, and you still cannot be sure you found them all. Patch is the same one email at all three.

Smallpdf and iLovePDF undercut Patch. Acrobat Pro does not. It is a dollar more, and it is still you doing the work.
Plain English, not a tool name
You do not have to know that the thing you want is called redaction, or a flattened form field, or find-and-replace. You describe the outcome; Patch reads it in the context of the document and asks if something important is unclear.
It reads your other paperwork
Attach the form and the documents the answers live in. Patch carries the values across rather than asking you to retype what you have already sent it.
Nothing else moves
Fonts, spacing, page breaks, every word you did not mention. The finished file is read back and compared against the original before it goes out.
You are told what changed
Every reply says what moved and where. One date in three places is a sentence you can check in five seconds, not a file you have to read twice.
A bad job is not a job
If the check does not pass, nothing is delivered and nothing is counted. You are never charged a document for a document you did not get.
It asks rather than guesses
When two readings of your sentence are both plausible, Patch does not pick one and hope. It comes back with the actual options and changes nothing until you say which.
You carry on in the same thread
"Actually, make it 22 instead." No editor to reopen, no file to attach again, no form to fill in twice. The document and the request are already in the conversation.
Your filename comes back
The file you sent is the file you get, called what you called it. Not output-final-v2.pdf, and not a copy you have to rename before anyone else sees it.
Whole forms, not one field
Text boxes, dropdowns, radio buttons and tick boxes, filled across the form in one request. You are not sent back to do the parts it could not reach.
Nothing to set up
No account to make before you find out whether it works. Verify an email address and the first finished document is yours.
It says no rather than guess
If Patch cannot do the job safely it tells you what stopped it. You are never handed a file that looks finished and is not, and a job that fails costs you nothing.
